How to Enable Nearby Share on Android

Here’s how to enable and use nearby share on Android devices. Nearby share is used to share files (Photos, Videos, and Documents) & links with Android phone near you. To share with devices nearby, make sure location and Bluetooth are turned on both devices. This new Nearby share feature works like Apple’s Airdrop and supported running Android 6.0 and above versions in several devices like Samsung Note 20 Ultra, Pixel, OnePlus Nord, Realme, Honor, Asus Zenfone 7 Pro, and more. Also, use NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi to share content with other devices.

How to Set up and Use Nearby Share on Android Devices

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to use nearby share on Pixel (Stock Android 11) devices.

How to Share Links, Photos, Video, and More Using Nearby Share on Pixel (Stock Android)

Make sure to turn on Bluetooth and location on both devices. Also, unlock your phone.

Step 1: Open the phone gallery and tap on the photos or videos you want to share.

Step 2: Tap the Share icon at the bottom left.

Step 3: You can see the Nearby share icon. If not available, tap on More.

Step 4: You can see a notification in the status bar on other devices. Tap on it to connect.

Step 5: Wait until see the Device name and tap on it.

Step 6: “Waiting for device to accept” screen appears.

Step 7: Tap Accept.

Step 8: When completing the process, you can see the Sent message in your Pixel or Android device.

Step 1: Go to “Settings”.

Step 2: Touch “Google App”.
