How to Factory Reset Huawei P40 Pro

Here’s how to reset Huawei P40 Pro using phone settings and hardware buttons. Factory reset Huawei P40 Pro Plus/P40 Pro using hardware buttons call hard reset also. Before resetting your Huawei P40 Pro, make sure to back up your data. It will delete all your data including your Google account, downloaded apps, pictures, videos, internal storage, etc. You can apply this setting if you forgot password/PIN, black screen, touchscreen unresponsive, and other Huawei P40 issues.

Step 1: Pull down the notification tray with two fingers and click on the “Settings gear (Cog)” icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and touch on “System & updates”.

Step 3: Touch the “Reset”.

Step 4: Touch “Reset phone”.

Step 5: Touch “Reset phone”.

Three options available here including Backup, Reset, or Reset but keep ESIMS.

Step 6: Click on “Reset”.

Wait until erasing your Huawei data and restart your phone.

How to Hard Reset or Reset Huawei P40 Pro Using Power & Volume Buttons

Step 1: Hold down the power button and touch “Power off”.

Step 2: Touch “Power off”.

You can press & hold the power button for more than 10 seconds to force restart your device.

Step 3: Touch “Power off” again to switch off your phone.

Step 4: Long press the power button and volume button same time until the screen turns on. Release the power key only when seeing the Huawei logo. Release the volume up button after 5 seconds.

Wait for few seconds to view recovery mode settings. You can see Restart, Clear data, Update mode, and safe mode options.

Step 5: Press the volume down button to select “Clear data”.

Step 6: Press the “Power button” to apply.

Now, factory reset, Wipe cache partition, and back options are available here.

Step 7: Press the Volume up button to highlight “Factory reset”.

Step 8: Press the “Power button”.

Step 9: Press the volume up to select “Factory reset”.

Step 10: Enter the “Yes”, then press the Power button once only (Warning: To avoid system error, please do not press and hold the power button).

Wait until the factory reset your Huawei P40 device.

Step 11: Press the volume down button until select “Back”.

Step 12: Press the “Power button” to apply.

Step 13: Press the volume up button to select “Restart”.

Step 14: Press the Power button to “Reboot” your device.

Now, you can see your phone reset to factory default settings. All data erased from your Huawei device.
